Who We Are

Women to Women

In collaboration with local resources centers this program will match mentors with women who are struggling with the effects of violence, self-sufficiency, and/or poverty to enable them to define their life goals and work towards achieving them. New mentors will be trained in the basic roles of adult mentoring, which include establishing a climate of trust, offering tailored advice based on the mentee’s current plans and goals, encouraging mentees to consider alternative views and options, challenging the mentees to examine any unproductive strategies or behaviors, motivating the mentee to take appropriate risks and encouraging the mentee to take initiative and become an independent thinker. Mentors will meet weekly with their mentees and monthly with their peer mentoring group. If you would like to sign up for this program as a mentor or mentee, contact Stephanie Barreno.
