Women's mountain passages

Picture
Founded in 1999, Women's Mountain Passages is a community-based non-profit organization that serves Plumas County, CA.  Our mission is to educate, strengthen, and inspire youth to choose healthy lifestyles and realize their potential while advocating for violence prevention and social justice.

Passages has over ten years experience providing hands-on youth development and education programs to Plumas County. Originally founded to decrease violence against women and girls and encourage healthy lifestyles, the agency has grown in response to local community needs. Passages has expanded to provide programs that foster the development of healthy lifestyles and positively transform youth and their connections with the environment.

We envision a healthy, safe community for youth based on:
  •   *  Healthy lifestyles and respectful relationships
  •   *  Utilization of community resources
  •   *  Enjoyment of our outdoor environment
  •   *  Engagement in creating a positive future
  •   *  No violence

"LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER" - to benefit women's Mountain Passages

On May 15th, local talent will assemble to celebrate Mother's Day with a collection of readings by local writers on motherhood.  Local writers and performers include: Jeff Titcomb Delayne Stapf, Elisa Adler, Mary Joseph, Wendy Weight, Ramona Hill, Joelle Fraser, Margaret Garcia, Julie Hatzell, Lydia Wahab, Michelle Fulton, Pat Bradley, Jane Braxton Little and Tiffiney Lozano.

The inspiring words and witty stories of these women will both entertain audiences and help support youth programming.  Ten percent of the show's proceeds will go to support Women's Mountain Passages.

Come join us Wednesday, May 15th at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall Theater for an entertaining evening in support of great programs!

New Partnership: eat-a-rainbow

Picture
Women's Mountain Passages is very pleased to announce our new partnership with the Quincy Natural Foods Cooperative's Eat-A-Rainbow program. Through this new partnership, Passages and QNFC offer local elementary school classes an opportunity to participate in activities that promote a healthy and colorful diet. Our goal is to introduce children to the benefits of fresh, local, unfamiliar, and seasonal produce, and the goodness of eating whole grains. We offer a variety of multisensory activities including bread making, fruit salad making, and veggie/grain salad making.

Eat-A-Rainbow compliments our Digging In program by building on the garden-based foundation to explore nutrition and healthy eating through classroom lessons and store visits. Together we strive to build healthy children, healthy habits, and sustainable agricultural systems.
